About Jennifer Nagel

With over 20 years of experience as a therapist, I provide both individual and group supervision over Zoom and in person.  I work primarily in the Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy model, and I'm influenced by other modalities, including Somatic Experiencing, Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR), Lifespan Integration (LI), and other experiential models. Since the strength of the therapeutic alliance is the most critical factor in contributing to transformational change in therapy, I bring particular attention to self-awareness and self-regulation as a therapist, as well as the ethical use of self-disclosure.

Effective supervision requires a feeling of safety and agreement on your goals and how we will work together. I have continued to receive my own supervision over the years, so I know the vulnerability of presenting a case where I doubt myself or my effectiveness.

In my experience, all therapists will sometimes experience their own history of trauma or unexpected present-day personal challenges getting in the way of being the best therapist they can be. My hope is to provide safety so you can acknowledge this when it happens and we can then explore this more deeply together.

My approach

I believe that change, personal growth, and healing are possible for everyone and that reconnecting to one’s inner resources and strengths lead to transformational change both within one’s self and in their relationships with others. I work collaboratively with my clients, opening them to new possibilities in order to help resolve whatever challenges they are facing. I have extensive training in Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy and teach experiential programs and workshops in Canada, China, Thailand and Kenya. I am also trained in Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR), Lifespan Integration, and expressive therapies such as art, play and sand.
